OPSC AEE Civil 2026: 750 vacancies, apply 22 Oct to 11 Nov, GATE 2024-26 score, age 21-42, Level 12 pay and selection process explained.
The Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) has advertised 758 Assistant Executive Engineer (OPSC AEE) posts in Group-A of the Odisha Engineering Service, and 750 of them are civil. There is no written exam: you are selected on your GATE score (90%) and an interview (10%). Online applications open on 22 October 2026 and close on 11 November 2026 at 5:00 PM. OPSC AEE Civil Vacancy 2026
There are 750 civil AEE posts. Of these, 612 are backlog vacancies of previous years and 138 are current vacancies. Candidates choose their department in order of preference on the form, and the choice cannot be changed later. The civil posts are in the Water Resources Department, the Works Department and the Housing and Urban Development Department.

Within these, 50 posts are reserved for persons with disabilities (13 women) and 8 for sports persons (2 women). The disability and sports posts are adjusted against the category the candidate belongs to, not added on top. The 8 mechanical posts (SC 2, ST 6) are in the Water Resources Department. The Government can change the number of vacancies without notice.
OPSC AEE Eligibility
- Qualification: a degree in civil engineering from a university or institution recognised by the Government, or Associate Membership of the Institution of Engineers (India) in civil. You must hold it on the date of application.
- GATE: a valid GATE score in Civil Engineering only. Scores of GATE 2024, 2025 and 2026 are accepted.
- Odia: you must be able to read, write and speak Odia, shown by one of four routes: Odia as a language subject in Middle School, Matriculation with Odia as medium, Odia as a language subject in Class VII, or a pass in the Middle English School standard Odia test. OPSC may test your Odia at the interview.
- Citizenship and conduct: you must be an Indian citizen, medically fit, and not debarred by OPSC, another PSC or UPSC. Government servants can apply but must inform their office and bring a No Objection Certificate to document verification.
- Cut-off date: you must meet every condition by 11 November 2026, the closing date.
OPSC AEE Age Limit
You must be at least 21 and not above 42 on 1 January 2026, which means born between 2 January 1984 and 1 January 2005. The upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC, ST, SEBC, women and ex-servicemen, and by 10 years for persons with a permanent disability of 40% or more. A person with disability from SC, ST or SEBC gets a cumulative 15 years. Candidates who entered the Diploma Engineers' Service as Junior Engineers under the conditions in the advertisement can go up to 45 years, with at most 5 chances. If you fall in more than one category you get only one relaxation, except for persons with disabilities. Age is taken from your high school certificate.
GATE Score Rules for OPSC AEE
- A GATE score is valid for 3 years, so only GATE 2024, 2025 and 2026 count.
- Your score must meet or beat the qualifying mark for your category on the scorecard. A scorecard alone is not enough.
- Only the QR-coded GATE scorecard is accepted, not the marksheet.
- If you have more than one year's scorecard, upload only one; selection uses only that one.
- You must submit an affidavit in the prescribed format (Annexure I of the advertisement) saying the scorecard is genuine.
- OPSC may ask you to log in to the GATE portal at document verification, so keep your GATE enrolment ID, email and password ready.
- Forging or altering a scorecard is a criminal offence and leads to rejection and debarment.
OPSC AEE Selection Process
There is no written exam. The final merit list uses your GATE score carrying 90% and your interview carrying 10%.
- OPSC invites a reasonable number of candidates, category-wise and strictly by GATE score merit, for document verification.
- After verification, it shortlists candidates for the interview, about twice the number of vacancies in each category, with a minimum of 5.
- The final merit list is made from GATE score (90%) plus interview marks (10%), with as many candidates as there are vacancies in each category.
- A tie is broken by interview marks, then by age, with the older candidate placed higher.
- Selected candidates face a medical board. Probation is 2 years from the date of joining.
OPSC says it will publish the GATE score (at 90%) of the last selected and last shortlisted candidate, category-wise, soon after the result. That will give you the cut-off.
OPSC AEE Exam Pattern and Syllabus
There is no OPSC written paper, so there is no exam pattern or syllabus to download. The 90% part of your selection is your GATE Civil Engineering score, so the syllabus that matters is the GATE Civil Engineering syllabus. OPSC AEE Salary in Odisha and Service Conditions
The post is in Level 12, Cell 1 of the Pay Matrix under the Odisha Revised Scales of Pay Rules 2017, with dearness allowance and other allowances as the Government of Odisha sanctions. The advertisement does not give a rupee figure. Probation is 2 years. People appointed on or after 1 January 2005 are under the contributory pension scheme, and NPS registration is mandatory at joining.
How to Apply for OPSC AEE 2026
- Go to opsc.gov.in and read the advertisement and the instructions.
- Register and open the application link, available from 22 October 2026.
- Choose AEE (Civil) and enter your details, GATE score and department preferences in order.
- Upload your passport-size photograph, signature, left-hand thumb impression and scanned documents on the e-Chayan portal.
- Submit, note your PPSAN registration number, print the form and sign the declaration.
- Apply well before 11 November 2026, 5:00 PM. A form with any error can only be changed by cancelling it and applying again within the deadline.
Documents to upload: high school certificate (age proof), degree pass certificate and all semester mark sheets, QR-coded GATE scorecard, Annexure I affidavit, Odia proof, caste or disability or ex-servicemen or sports certificate where you claim it, No Objection Certificate for government employees, and identity proof (Aadhaar, EPIC, driving licence, passport or PAN). An SEBC certificate must have been issued on or after 23 October 2023, an OBC certificate is not accepted instead, and women from SC, ST and SEBC need a "daughter of" certificate, not "wife of".
