A degree is not listed. If you are unsure whether your qualification is equivalent, the advertisement refers you to the Department and the Technical Education Department.
- Age on 1 August 2025: minimum 18 years. Maximum 37 for unreserved men, 40 for unreserved women, 40 for BC and EBC (men and women), and 42 for SC and ST (men and women).

- Domicile: reservation benefits apply to Bihar domicile candidates only, and the 35% horizontal reservation for women is for Bihar domicile women only.
BTSC JE Exam Pattern
The test is a computer-based, objective paper of 100 questions in Hindi and English, with a duration of 2 hours. Each correct answer gets 1 mark and each wrong answer costs 0.25 marks. It may be held in more than one shift, with normalisation. Questions are based on the AICTE 3-year diploma civil engineering curriculum. Minimum qualifying marks are 40% for General, 36.5% for BC, 34% for EBC, and 32% for SC, ST, women and persons with disabilities.
Selection: the merit list combines 75 marks from the written test (your score scaled to 75) and up to 25 marks for experience as a contract JE, at 5 marks per completed year, counted up to 12 December 2025. Experience needs a salary payment certificate in the format given in the advertisement. After the test, shortlisted candidates are called for document verification and departments are allotted by option and merit.
