RSSB JEn Civil Previous Year Papers: Download PDFs and Practice Online
Download RSSB JEn Civil Degree and Diploma previous year papers free, or practise them as timed online tests. Exam pattern, full paper list and prep tips included.
Solving RSSB JEn Civil's previous year papers is one of the most reliable ways to prepare for the 2027 exam — they show you the real difficulty level, the actual mix of General Knowledge and Civil Engineering questions, and which topics repeat. This guide covers where to get every available paper for both the Degree and Diploma posts, free, plus how to practise them as timed online tests instead of just reading through a PDF.

A labelling quirk worth knowing about on the degree side: the original 2020 exam cycle was cancelled and re-held as the 12 September 2021 paper, which is the version RSSB actually finalised results on — that's the one worth practising, not an older 2020 draft you might find elsewhere. A couple of papers are also tagged by the year the recruitment cycle began rather than the year the exam was actually held, so always check the date printed on the paper itself rather than relying on the folder label alone.
Practise the Same Papers as Timed Online Tests
A PDF tells you the questions; it doesn't tell you whether you can finish them in 120 minutes under real exam pressure. We've also built these papers into timed, online tests you can take under exam conditions:
- Degree: 7 previous-year papers as online tests — two more than the PDF list above, since we've also added the 16 October 2016 and 6 December 2020 papers in test form.
- Diploma: 5 previous-year papers as online tests, matching the PDF list.
Find these under the "PYQs" tab on the RSSB JEn Civil (Degree) and RSSB JEn Civil (Diploma) exam pages. A free quiz is available on each page if you want to try the format before committing to anything.
Full-Length Mock Tests and Subject-Wise Tests
Previous papers are a starting point, not the whole plan — they only show you what's already been asked, not how ready you are for a fresh paper. Once you've worked through the real papers, both exam pages also offer:
- 10 full-length mock tests each for Degree and Diploma, built to the same 120-question, 120-mark, 120-minute format as the real exam.
- Subject-wise tests — 57 for Degree, 48 for Diploma — to drill individual topics like fluid mechanics, soil mechanics or Rajasthan geography on their own.
One payment of Rs 299 unlocks the full set — previous-year tests, full-length mock tests and subject-wise tests together — for either exam. A free quiz is available on each exam page if you'd rather try the format first.
RSSB JEn Civil Exam Pattern
Both Degree and Diploma follow the same structure:
| Total marks | 120 |
| Duration | 2 hours |
| Part A | General Knowledge of Rajasthan — 40 marks |
| Part B | Civil Engineering (Degree or Diploma syllabus) — 80 marks |
| Negative marking | 1/3 mark deducted per wrong answer |
| Minimum qualifying marks | 40%, i.e. 48 out of 120 |

What These Papers Show About the Exam
We analysed seven real Degree papers question by question — 840 questions in total — to see where the marks actually come from. A few patterns stand out in the most recent papers:
- Geography is the single biggest block in the General Knowledge section, supplying 15 to 20 of the 40 GK marks in every recent paper.
- Highway engineering and public health engineering have become regular, heavier topics in the last three papers, after barely appearing in the 2016 and 2020 papers — many aspirants still under-prepare for them.
- Fluid mechanics, soil mechanics, irrigation and surveying together account for roughly 33 of the 80 civil marks in recent papers, and they're also the most formula-driven topics, so accuracy there builds quickly.
This is a summary — the full subject-by-subject breakdown and a 17-week study plan built around it are in our RSSB JEN Civil (Degree) prep guide.
How to Use These Papers Effectively
- Time yourself properly. Give yourself exactly 2 hours, the same as the real exam, rather than solving questions at your own pace.
- Score Part A and Part B separately. The 40% qualifying mark is calculated on your total, not section by section, so a strong civil score can hide a weak General Knowledge score on a single paper — track both sections to find your real weak spot.
- Account for negative marking honestly. With a 1/3 penalty, mark a question as "confidently attempted" in your own review only if you genuinely knew the answer, not just because you picked one.
- Weight recent papers more heavily. The 2016 and 2020 papers are useful for volume practice, but the topic-wise weighting has shifted since then — lean on the 2022 and 2025 papers for the clearest picture of what's likely to repeat.
